Burlesque in New Haven this Saturday!
This Saturday, MAy 9th of 2009, please join us for a night of classy burlesque, featuring two less classy (but still very funny) hosts, 5 saucy (and still very classy) girls, and one DJ (who has about as much class as a kindergarten in summer). Go-go starts promptly at 9:30 (the crew getting drunk starts promptly when we walk in the door). A flyer has been placed, out of site, under the following text. For those of you who find it less prurient.
Step this way, folks! See the pretty lady with more feathers than you can fandango....Collapse )

Aberdeen City plays live at Shag Frenzy, this Saturday, 20 Jan 2007
Beantown indie darlings Aberdeen City, who recently signed to Sony, grace our stage this month at Hartford's only indie dance night, Shag Frenzy.  They've been lumped together with Interpol, U2, Radiohead, Coldplay, and a host of others in the press, but they have a sound all their own and their only CT stop on this tour is right here in beautiful, downtown Hartford.  Plus, it's resident deejay Johnny Strangler's birthday!  Come celebrate inebriation and aging with the only deejay around who can play the new, unreleased stuff by LCD Soundsystem, The Shins, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), and new remixes of tracks by Radio 4, VHS Or Beta, Hot Chip, Lily Allen, Ratatat, The Rapture, and loads of others.  We're trying to bring some bands around here that are national and international, so please come out and show some support if you love indie music and nightclubbing.

Tanx.

This Saturday!!! Shag Frenzy & The Picture...from NYC

We're ending the year in some fast fashion with the usual strap-to-arse dj sets by Stephanie Disco, Johnny Strangler and Garage Flower, plus our special guest band The Picture, all the way from Metropolis, er, New York.

Still no cover, still bigtime rocknroll fuss and disco trash.

Check out some tunes by The Picture HERE.

More info HERE.

Halloween Party tomorrow night w/ The Horrors
The only fun in town, Shag Frenzy, is having their first ever Halloween Party tomorrow night.  If last week's 220+ is any indication of how insane and hedonistic it will be, I am sure this is the best Halloween party you can ever attend.

It will also be our first endeavour into booking national/international acts, with London, England's own The Horrors (Loog/Polydor Records UK) playing live at just their second only US show!  They're loud, fast, out of control, youthful rotters, and we have them playing just for you!  Before and after the band's set, the Shag Frenzy deejays will be playing the spooky pop and the sexy indie dance you all know and love.  Special guest Death In Jim will be there with us, playing his trademark "the goths will love it" sets.

See details below:

Hartford's only indie dance night...TONIGHT
24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE...NO DAYS OFF...365 ALL THE TIME

SHAG FRENZY at FACTORY
Saturday 15 July 2006, 9PM, 21+
45 Bartholomew Ave, Hartford

We checked out the new drum 'n' bass night, CRUX, last night at Factory.  The music and DJs were amazing, and the space is spectacular.  We have been receiving all kinds of swag from labels for Primal Scream, MEW, Hot Chip, and we are waiting for our Thom Yorke and French Kicks stuff - so be sure to come out and bring friends because we need a good turnout.

Highlights:
2 rooms of music
Drinking on the dancefloors
Smoking patio (you can bring your drink with you and still hear the music)
Large, well lit, dedicated parking lot right by the patio
Minutes off of I-84 with easy directions (Its in the old Spaghetti Warehouse/Troutbrook Brewhouse)
2 bars with lots of drink specials ($2 PBRs, $3 Jager shots, $4 Red Bull & Vodka, $5 Apple martinis til midnight)
Pool Room
Lots of couches and other seating
Still just a $5 cover
One more thing - Air Conditioning!!!

Details:
You walk in the big double doors, pay the cover, and have your choice of 2 rooms.  Room 1 is straight ahead.  It is an intimate bar setting, pretty much all open save for some banquette seating when you walk through the doors.  For the first Shag Frenzy this will be the room with DJs Markie Gee and Brut Zero spinning industrial, house, new wave, electro, etc...
DJs Garage Flower and Johnny Strangler will be in Room 2, spinning britpop, indie, new wave, electro, dance rock, post punk (the usual Shag Frenzy mix).  This room has a dancefloor, and a seated area.  There are 3-4 couches, plus chairs and banquettes, if you wish to sit down and listen to the music.  The smokers patio is right off to the side of this seating area.  The bar is on the side of the dancefloor, so no more guzzling down your drink to dance to a song.  There is a pool room on the other side of the seating area, with a couple of pools tables - it is a great space.
As you can tell, it is a much larger space than the Webster Underground, so we need to pack the place.  Right now we only have the 2 dates confirmed, so we need everyone to spread the word, bring friends, etc to make sure Shag Frenzy stays around...

Final Shag Frenzy at The Webster Underground tonight
Tonight, 1 July, is our final club night at The Webster Underground. We've decided to take up an offer that neither us nor Fredo could refuse. So please, if you can, support us at the lasy hurrah in the original location. We're going to have a blast, and I plan on playing Haddaway's "What Is Love" in order to be Roxbury'ed by lovely ladies as I was last night. Maybe even another slow dance number full of those old awkward high school slow tempos we loved so well.

SEND REQUESTS, NO MATTER HOW WACKY THEY ARE!!! THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE FULL OF POMP, CIRCUMSTANCE, CAMP and KITSCH!

9PM sharp, 18+, $5...we want the dancefloor moving all night long. So do it.

15 July, we will be at our new location at Factory on 45 Bartholomew Ave, in Hartford's Parkville section. Stay tuned.

Hot Chip party at Shag Frenzy, Saturday 1 July
DFA/Astralwerks gave us some copies of the new Hot Chip album The Warning, so make plans in your datebook for next Saturday evening, 1 July to hang out with the Shag Frenzy massive. We'll be giving away copies of the new album, plus some buttons and stickers and other neato swag.  Never heard 'em before?  Imagine Pet Shop Boys recording an album with Brian Eno and Holger Hiller.  Or something like that.  Come out, listen to the album in full as you sit at the bar and marvel at whatever specials we have on tap for that week.  There's nowhere else around here where you can dance, drink, make out, and bring home some free compact discs.  Shag Frenzy...rip it up and start again...

Shag Frenzy!
Always the first and third Saturday of the month.
The Webster Underground, 31 Webster St, Hartford.
9PM, 18+, $5

Deejays Johnny Strangler and Garage Flower are nominated in the DJ category for The Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam 2006(2nd year in a row!).
